Vikram and Tess

Question: Why is Tess the one who knows Vikram is alive?

VikramTess

In the last minute of the mid-season finale, Tess calls Vikram and tells him it’s time for him to come home. Which raises the question, why was Tess and not Karen the one who knew he had faked his death?

It seems unlikely that they would both know. At least unlikely that both are in on the secret together, as they have only recently renewed their friendship and seem to have had no history together that past five years and have openly discussed Vikram’s death. Also it seems unlikely Karen, who is completely devoting herself to her son and would mention several times how hard Vikram’s death has been on him and not share with him the truth.

So if Karen doesn’t know, why does Tess?

There is of course that possibility that Tess and Vikram are having, or have had, an affair. One popular theory is that Jo is Vikram’s daughter, and if that was connected to the reasons he faked his death and (possibly) Regina’s murder, then it might be natural that he and Tess would be working together to keep it a secret.

But it feels like there would have to be more than that to Vikram’s decision to go missing. Tess on the phone to him said ‘it’s time to come home’, which heavily implies they both knew at some point he would return. Besides, the presence of the PI proves there’s much more going on than the true parentage of one teenage girl. She may still be Vikram’s daughter, but there is much more going on below the surface.

Could Tess be involved in Marna Inc. and whatever is happening in Connecticut? Karen also appears to have been, at least somewhat, aware of what her husband was doing in Connecticut, but she has not confided at all in Tess on the subject, which would have seemed natural after Kyle showed her the letter sent to Regina, if she knew Tess had been involved.

So it seems likely that whatever Tess’ involvement with Vikram and/or Marna is, Karen doesn’t know about it.

It’s possible Vikram was forced to confide in Tess. Maybe he needed help to fake his death. Karen has said they were having problems in their marriage, maybe it was because of that Vikram turned to Tess, with whom he had years of history. Or maybe he didn’t trust Karen for another reason? Maybe Tess doesn’t trust her either, and her recent attempts at friendship have been a ploy in order to sound her out for information?

Fan Theory: The Mayor started to act weird when the case started to turn into another direction. It’s almost as he’s trying to hide something. I believe Vikram, the Mayor, and another party are responsible for soliciting young girls. Nobody in town, not even Danny or Karen knew they were coming back home so it’s just by accident Danny took the fall. Regina’s death is only a ploy to deflect media attention from the true plot. Besides, Vikram isn’t dead.

In the case of Tara, I truly believe Tara found out Tess and Vikram’s affair and was going to rat them out. Danny over heard them and as he watched stunned as Tess choked Tara. To prevent the information ever coming out. Tess is too chill for my liking. Danny being old enough to understand, took the blame because he knew how much the information would hurt Jo. Which is why he can’t tell Lacey and Jo the truth.

Archie, oh Arcie, he just loves the spotlight due to him lacking or needing the affection. He’s always out of town, or taking a break. It makes me wonder if he’s involved with Vikrams and the Mayors little ‘ring’. Blech! Archie the attention hogger he feels threatened by Danny and tries to sabotage him any way he can. Psshhh!! Pretend Archie Alpha.

Who killed Regina? The same person screening her calls and text. Nobody receives $2000 just for the hell of it.

The Mastersons and the Desais

Question: What is the full history between the Desai and Masterson families?

themothers

We know there’s a lot of history between the two families. Tess used to date Vikram in high school. She introduced him and Karen who then began to date. And Tess continued to hookup up with him, at least while they were in high school. We don’t know if their relationship continued for longer, but it’s definitely a possibility.

We know Danny and Jo practically grew up together (at least according to Jo). And the two families seem to be very close.

But is there more under the surface?

First there’s the theory I’ve seen suggested by several people that Jo might be Vikram’s biological daughter, arguing that Tess and he could easily have continued their affair past high school. This definitely provides another possible explanation to the next clue that connects the two families.

Danny’s desire to protect and keep safe, Jo, by not telling her his motive for killing Aunt Tara. What could put Jo in danger? Previously when Danny, Jo and Rico were discussing Regina’s text message, Danny was adamant that Regina could not possibly know his motive. Which would call into question the possibility that he’s concerned Jo knowing the motive could get her killed for that knowledge.

Which still leaves the question: what could Danny know, that could hurt Jo, either emotionally, physically or both? Given the fact that Jo was only eleven when the murder happened, it seems more likely it involves her family as a whole.

There is one more interesting connection between the two families: grudges. Karen accused Kyle Masterson of holding a grudge and that it has caused him to suspect Danny of murdering Regina. But what cold the grudge be? The Mastersons told Karen she was a bad mother, the Mastersons refused to allow Jo to be Danny’s character witness. Karen would have a good reason for holding a grudge, but what kind of grudge could Kyle have?

Fan Theory: I’ve been thinking a lot about this show (mostly because of how good it is) and I’ve arranged a couple of theories. First, I’ve been thinking about how Karen and Vikram had an affair before, so it might have continued after high school. Possibly making Danny’s father Jo’s too. If that is true, it would explain why Danny says he was trying to protect Jo all this time. Tara some how found out and Danny had to kill her to save his family and Jo’s too. Then Regina found out about it and Vikram, still being alive of course, got money so she wouldn’t tell any one about it. But for some reason Regina decided to tell Danny about it, possibly for some more money, and Vikram, or someone else who needed to keep that secret, killed Regina out of anger. I highly doubt this is what actually happened, but it’s how I made sense of what’s happening in the show.

The Necklace, Part II

the necklace part 2

Since my previous post about the necklace, we’ve learned a bit more about it, which further complicates the question of whether or not Regina’s necklace and the aunt’s necklace are one in the same and how she got it. One of the conversations in the police station mentioned a very interesting fact about Tara’s necklace; that it was in her purse at the time of her death.

When the police arrived at the scene of Tara’s murder, the necklace was in her purse. Danny could not have taken the necklace at that point. We don’t know the exact timeline of how soon after the murder Danny was arrested, but given the fact he confessed to his two friends immediately after allegedly committing the crime, he was probably arrested pretty quickly. I don’t know the rules of parole for a child, especially after he confessed. Would he have had an opportunity after the murder to remove the necklace, after the police had already determined that it was in Tara’s purse? If so did he hide it somewhere? Maybe in the fort and that’s why he was so shocked to see Regina with it? But what possible motive would he have to put so much effort into hiding a necklace assuming he did somehow have opportunity?

If Danny could not have hidden the necklace after the police came on the scene then that leaves a couple of options. The necklace would have ended up back in the custody of Danny’s parents’ wouldn’t it? Unless one of the police stole it (for instance, Kyle). If the necklace was in Karen and Vikram’s custody, how could they have lost track of it so badly that it ended up in Regina’s possession? Maybe the necklace was worth a good bit and Vikram pawned it along with other items due to their money issues?

There’s still the possibility that Regina’s necklace is not the same one the aunt had, but if so the question would still remain how did Danny end up with the aunt’s necklace? Karen doesn’t seem to have given it to him on his return (and it would have been bizarre if she had done). So if the Karen and her husband had the aunt’s necklace all this time, and Regina’s necklace is a different one, wouldn’t Karen know they were different necklaces as Regina got the necklace 5 – 6 months ago, and Danny would only have taken the aunt’s necklace away from his mother a few weeks ago. So if the necklaces were different I’d think Karen would be much less suspicious of Danny’s motives in the current situation. But she clearly thinks they’re the same.

The last possibility I thought of was falling back on the Tara-was-his-real-mother theory. If Tara was Danny’s real mother and not Karen, it’s possible his dad gave him the necklace (would someone in juvie be allowed a personal item like a necklace?) or set it aside for him and possibly Karen didn’t know.

I’m honestly more and more coming to the conclusion that necklaces are actually one in the same. Which leaves us with one very important question, how did Danny get it?

Fan Theory: I’ve commented a lot on my theories on here and I do a lot of brainstorming so I always come up with more. My friends and I always debate on everything involved around this show and for those who watch Pretty Little Liars, I believe that it will be dragged out. So my friend is going for the more obvious suspects, like Danny and the guys he is having problems with but to be more technical, that’s what they want us to think. Yeah Danny’s hiding something but is he the main suspect? I don’t think so…and we may not know till seasons later but it’s okay. I believe the mom is suspicious, for example, a lot of people failed to comment on her relationship with the principle, yeah it may be because she wanted him back in school but did they ever say that’s why?

Danny and His Mother

Question: What exactly is going on between Danny and his mother?

karen

Karen Desai is a very intriguing character. She vacillates wildly between being cool, calm and in control and seeming like she’s barely keeping a handle on things. One of the most interesting aspects of her character however, is her relationship with Danny, which is strained to say the least.

Danny and Karen have an extremely interesting relationship, one that’s hard to completely understand at this point in the show. Just the way he says the word ‘mother’ sounds pointed and he’s definitely not very open with her (for instance, he’s much more communicative to Jo, even though his mother seems to be trying very hard to support him). When she tells him she was only trying to protect him, he yelled at her that he doesn’t need protection. He keeps pushing her away. When she asked about the photographs, he said not now and walked off, while whenever Jo demands answers he stays and tries to talk things through with her.

Danny has implied in the past Karen was more concerned with appearances and status then what’s best for him. So the strain in their relationship could just be chalked up to that and the fact that Danny’s been away for five years and living with his parent at this point is hard and he doesn’t exactly know how to act around her. After all, he is sometimes fairly nice to her and is polite as long as the conversation stays general.

But there are a couple of things that raises questions. The way in which he calls her ‘mother’, which can be compared to his calling her ‘mom’ in a much more natural voice in this week’s episode when he was trying to plead with her. I have read one theory in which someone suggested Karen might not be his real mother. This is a possibility since we don’t know exactly how long Danny’s family has lived in Green Grove, they could have moved there after he was born. Someone has also suggested that Tara was his real mother (the result of his Dad having an affair with Tara), which is a possibility though Tara was his father’s sister….which definitely would provide a pretty dark motive for murder and explain why the lie about Karen being his mother…however I’m not sure it’s a motive an eleven year old would really understand and so if that is the motive I don’t see Danny actually being guilty.

Which does lead to the cover-up possibility. Maybe Karen and Vikram both encouraged Danny to take the fall for one of them. Maybe Danny partially blames Karen’s need for good appearances for this, after all he certainly seems resentful of her past fondness for status.

On the couple of occasions Karen and Danny have talked about Tara, it’s seemed just a little off. For example it seems perfectly natural and understandable, that Danny would want to get rid of any photos of the woman he murdered. And yet Karen seemed to find it so bizarre that he had removed them all. And while he has talked about ‘his fault’ for what happened and ‘what he’s done’, he has yet to say point blank to her that he killed or murdered Tara.

Whatever is going on however, I get the strong impression that there’s at least some secret that Danny and his mother share. And I wouldn’t be surprised if the importance she used to place in appearances and status likely escalated events and contributed to what happened to the aunt (whether it was her turning a blind eye or hiding the truth).
